Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul is to be honored by
grassroots activists as the first Civil Rights leader of the 21st Century.

FreeAtLast2008. com - Ron Paul For President is a new website designed
to generate a 10 million dollar plus cash infusion for Paul's campaign
along with nationwide marches to honor Dr. Paul and Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr
.

Many of Ron Paul's supporters consider him the first Civil Rights
leader of the 21st Century for his tireless defense of the U.S.
Constitution
and the Bill of Rights. Paul voted against the Patriot
Act and has made the defense of liberty a central theme in his campaign.

Organizers of the mass donation day have successfully broke records in
the past on November 5th with 4.2 million, and on December 16th with a
historic 6 plus million dollar day to commemorate the Boston Tea Party.

Unique to this money bomb is that it isn't designed to protest
anything; instead, it is designed to honor both Dr. Paul and Dr. King
as Civil Rights leaders. It is a sign of the transcendent nature of
Paul's message of peace, freedom, and prosperity.

Paul's website says regarding racism:

"The collectivist mindset is at the heart of racism. Racism is simply
an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly
as members of groups rather than as individuals. Racists believe that
all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are
alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups."

Paul has raised more money in the 4rth quarter than his opponents yet
has not been able to break through the 10% barrier in the first couple
contests of the GOP nomination process. This is largely because of a
corporate media blackout.

As it stands now, the two frontrunners Mike Huckabee and John McCain
are not financially viable to compete on Super Tuesday without
millions of dollars of free media to propel them. Mitt Romney can
continue to self finance his campaign if desired.

Paul, already financed through Super Tuesday, which is February 5th,
may find himself with another windfall in a couple weeks.

Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich endorses Congressman Ron Paul,
suggesting he may be exactly what the US administration needs.

Kucinich said the libertarian- leaning Republican can provoke debate on
important issues to help America strengthen its position.

When asked who he would choose as his running mate if nominated, the
Democrat mentioned Ron Paul describing him as a person of integrity,
vision, and courage.

He then pointed to the glass etching of the American eagle in the US
House of Representatives and said the administration is also in need
of two wings to fly, a right wing and a left wing.

Kucinich said his foreign policy is very similar to that of Ron
Paul
's, adding that he does not want his party to just represent
unilateral politics.

Democrat candidate Dennis Kucinich, who opposed the war authorization
bill five years ago, has repeatedly warned against launching a
military attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Kucinich campaign is awaiting ABC News explanations for its actions

Dear Cal Jennings,

The Kucinich campaign is still awaiting an official response from ABC News about the unexplained – some have charged "inexplicable" - way in which the network has handled its post-debate online coverage of Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich over the past few days.

Among the "outrages" that have energized tens of thousands of Kucinich supporters - and even non-supporters - thousands of whom have flooded the ABC News website and other online news sites with comments of protest:

* Congressman Kucinich was apparently deliberately cropped out of a "Politics Page" photo of the candidates.

* Sometime Monday afternoon, after Congressman Kucinich took a commanding lead in ABC's own on-line "Who won the Democratic debate" survey, the survey was dropped from prominence on the website.

* ABC News has not officially reported the results of its online survey.

* After the results of that survey showed Congressman Kucinich winning handily, ABC News, sometime Monday afternoon, replaced the original survey with a second survey asking "Who is winning the Democratic debate?"

* During the early voting Monday afternoon and evening, U.S. Senator Barack Obama was in the lead. By sometime late Monday or early Tuesday morning, Congressman Kucinich regained the lead by a wide margin in this second survey.

* Sometime Tuesday morning, ABC News apparently dropped the second survey from prominence or killed it entirely.

* AND, as every viewer of the nationally televised Sunday Presidential forum is aware, Congressman Kucinich was not given an opportunity to answer a question from moderator George Stephanopoulos until 28 minutes into the program.

The campaign submitted objections and inquiries to ABC News representatives on Monday and Tuesday. ABC News representatives have failed to respond - or even acknowledge - those objections and inquiries.

Stayed tuned for further details.

The Biggest Lie

The single assertion that is keeping us in Iraq - exceeding the wmds and Al Qaeda, neither of which were there until we invaded - is the threat of genocide.  The argument is that Sadam's iron fist was largely secular and intolerant of ethnic cleansing, so without such an authority, who will stop the slaughter?  And the news today from the Bush war machine is that "progress" is being made and so now is not the time to end the "surge".  No one with a heart can fail to ask themselves if - having broken it - we have a right now to leave Iraq before that threat is ended.

But what's the truth?

According to a July 30 report from Oxfam and a coalition of Iraqi NGOs, 8 million Iraqis - nearly a third of the population - are in need of immediate food and shelter, an humanitarian crisis that has escalated sharply since the US invasion.  The report found more than 4 million internal and external refugees, nearly 30% of children malnourished, 70% of Iraqis without adequate water, 80% without effective sanitation.

So what is America doing about it?  The US is now providing less than 15% of the aid it gave in 2003, less now than either Norway or the Netherlands - less than $50 million this year, which is less than 1/10,000 of our total war spending (http://www.nationalpriorities.org/Cost-of-War/Cost-of-War-3.html).  As for the effectiveness of this pittance: the US agency overseeing reconstruction in Iraq reports that economic mismanagement and corruption are equivalent to "a second insurgency".  Meanwhile, President Bush claims that reduced war casualties during the hottest months of the year amounts to "progress".

Democratic Candidates Support Legalization of Medical Marijuana

All 8 Democratic presidential candidates support medical marijuana!
Marijuana Policy Project Alert    August 23, 2007
All 8 Democratic presidential candidates support medical marijuana!

Dear Cal Jennings:

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) just became the last of the eight Democratic presidential candidates to pledge to end the DEA’s raids on medical marijuana patients and providers who act legally under state law.

This means that all eight Democratic presidential candidates — including U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) — have now taken public positions in support of protecting patients in the 12 states with medical marijuana laws.

In regard to Sen. Obama, it took MPP’s campaign in New Hampshire, Granite Staters for Medical Marijuana (GSMM), five separate encounters over the last few months — and two back-to-back encounters earlier this week — but on Tuesday in Nashua, Sen. Obama told a GSMM volunteer, “I would not have the Justice Department prosecuting and raiding medical marijuana users. It's not a good use of our resources." You can watch the encounter here and read some news coverage of this coup here.

MPP/GSMM has had one full-time staffer — Stuart Cooper — working in New Hampshire since March, and I’m thrilled that our persistence has paid off. Stuart and his cadre of volunteers and patients have been dogging the Democratic and Republican candidates at almost every appearance in the state, urging them to take strong, public, positive positions on medical marijuana in advance of the New Hampshire primary — currently the first in the nation — on January 22.

In addition to the eight Democratic candidates, two Republican candidates — U.S. Reps. Ron Paul (Texas) and Tom Tancredo (Colo.) — have also vowed to end the medical marijuana raids as well. In fact, these two members of Congress recently voted for the Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment on the House floor ... for the fifth year in a row.

You can see or hear the good guys in their own words here.

Can you imagine if all the presidential candidates publicly supported protecting patients? Please make a donation so we can keep up the pressure on the six Republicans who still haven’t taken positive positions.

The 10 good candidates are to be commended for their common sense and compassion, especially as federal intrusion into medical marijuana states has been on the rise this summer, with DEA raids taking place in several counties in California and Oregon. Recently, the DEA also began threatening landlords who lease space to medical marijuana dispensaries — activity that’s legal under state law — with forfeiture of their property, a move condemned in a Los Angeles Times editorial as "a deplorable new bullying tactic."

And last week, presidential candidate and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D), who signed legislation in April making his the 12th medical marijuana state, wrote to President Bush asking him to end the federal raids in medical marijuana states: "Respected physicians and government officials should not fear going to jail for acting compassionately and caring for our most vulnerable citizens. Nor should those most vulnerable of citizens fear their government because they take the medicine they need."

We still have work to do in New Hampshire: Will you consider making a donation today to ensure that in January 2009 we inaugurate a president who is committed to ending federal interference in the states that have medical marijuana laws? Thank you for your support.

With gratitude,

Rob Kampia
